yep thats the one and it has got horn plates - i thought i had a better picture of it but the only one i have the lantern is in the very corner of a picture of my sister Riannan and Anders pulling faces!! i wont post it here - don't want to frighten you all!

this is something i really want -a nice, well made replica lantern and i especially want a metal one as there are loads of wooden/horn constructed lanterns in our group and i like to be unusual!
we are going to a big re-enactors market on 31st October so maybe some one will sell one there!

Yup, thats the guy, a really nice little lantern. My pics are quite crappy but here we go. It looks more like parchment than horn.

Were looking through Racaires pics on her Flick and found this fantastisk picture of a profane emberoidery from the 15th century. Look at the left side of the lady.

Lantern

Postby Alex Nordin on 17 Feb 2009, 09:35

Two years ago i saw a lantern in the Seeth Ekholt market belonging to one of the carpenters. Ha said it was a copy of a german original from the 14th century but didnt know where it was found or anything. His reproduction was of low quality(He said so himself) being made out of plywood insted of real wood and rawhide instead of horn. But you get the idea of how it should have been made when you look at it.

Has anyone seen the original that this lantern is supposed to be copied from? I´m thinking of making my own but im not that interested in making a copy of a copy.

Mvh
